Week 1: If God is a God of Love, then why does God allow_______?
All these bad things to happen all over the world,
It’s a sin fallen world
Bad things to happen to innocent children,
Don’t always know. Could be consequence or attacks from satan or part of the curse
Bad things to happen to me,
This depends; consequence, attacks or training
Why does He let innocent people die?
Ultimately no one is innocent
How can He let bad things happen?
Spiritual security is far greater than physical security
Why does He take peoples’ lives?
Sin can never go unpunished. Ultimately it has to be dealt with and since God created the life in the first place, He has full rights to take it if He chooses. This is not a “cop-out” answer
Why does God do this to my family?
God doesn’t take the notion to put people through things just to do it. There is always a reason behind everything that happens.
Why did He let my mom die of cancer?
Part of what comes from sin is sickness. When there isn’t a perfect world there is a flawed world. When we are not perfect people we are subject to being flawed.
Who do we compare ourselves to when it comes to being titled “Good” or “Bad”? Genesis 3 is the location of scripture that defines why we have to face bad times, Sin was allowed into the world because we think we know it all and want to do things our way (which is usually a disaster) When we correctly compare ourselves to a Holy God, then we will realize our correct title- Bad.
Why do we live as though God owes us something? Well He created us so why doesn’t He take care of us? The bible states that God wants to give good gifts to His children, pain is not good. This is what the Jews thought when Jesus came, that He was the conquering King that defeated the Romans (earthly). the only thing that we are owed is eternal damnation to Hell due to our wickedness.
In order to understand why it is that the good ones always seem to have all the bad luck, we have to understand first what is “Good”. Romans 3:10, 3:23
What is it that we deserve? Ananias and Sapphira(Acts 5) who are we to lie to God. BAD idea- Romans 6:23 we are sinners and He is a perfect Judge and is perfectly Righteous.
Why is it that we face difficult or hard times? 2 Corinthians 1:3-6, Hebrews 12:3-11 We can always take the circumstance that we are in and use them for the greater good. Why is it that we think life is so much better when there are no challenges. if you aren’t challenged in your school work, would you become smarter or achieve higher goals without some kind of discipline?
So where is the Hope? Romans 5:18 Peace with God through Faith
How does God get our attention? Either During the High times or the times in the valley?
Challenging times are given to keep us humble. If there is never a need for God then how can we give Him Glory the way He wants it?
My wife miscarried our first child which means there was an innocent life that was taken (since life begins at conception), but God used that event to be the turning point in my life. He shown me through that difficult circumstance something that was far greater than me having a child, which was spiritual security rather than a physical body. I was lost (not in a relationship with God through Jesus) and it was revealed to me and I praise God for the taking of that child because of the GOOD that came from it. I am now a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and having the eternal security of not having to face the wrath of God is better than me being selfish, wanting a child to myself, in which would not have been raised correctly and all the heart ache from that isn’t worth it.
In all things be content. Philippians 4:11
All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Do not worry about those who can kill the body, but fear the one who can kill both the body and soul. Matthew 10:28
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS BE READY FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD. REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU DIE, ARE YOU READY TO DIE?
